I'm a knit-wit, flaws and all

People have asked me where I learned to knit and where I get my patterns from. I learned to knit by teaching myself through online tutorial videos on Youtube. I just practiced and started making stuff. I haven't followed any patterns up until recently because I hadn't known how to read them. I still don't to some degree, but am learning. I basically knit from memory. Luckily, I've only had a few mishaps but for the most part the things I make look fairly good, in my opinion. The way I look at it is each stuffed animal I make has character. They have flaws. And none are like the others. It makes them unique. I know there are knitters out there that are much better than me, their animals are almost perfect, but I don't claim to make perfect animals.

I always tell those that request from me that I do my best but I'm in no way a professional. They always appreciate my honesty and that I put effort into it. I put love into everything I make. I try to add a little something special to each stuffed animal, hat, or bootie set I make for that particular child, whether it's their favorite colors or animals. I also try to make sure everything fits by asking them to measure their child's feet or head and that if for some reason something doesn't fit, I will redo it. My goal is to make each sick child happy. My hope is that the stuffed bear or cat or dog that I make will light up their life, even if for a moment.

Welcome

Welcome to the newest addition to Knitted with Love, a Facebook charity for sick children. As the mission states, Knitted with Love offers hand-knitted hats/booties and stuffed animals to sick children all around. It started in December of 2012 as Knitted for NICU to give hats to babies who are sick, but quickly expanded and now offers to all children who are suffering from some type of illness, including Autism, heart conditions, cancer, and more. We do not discriminate, if your little one is sick or suffering for whatever reason, we will knit for them.

I started the page but recently added an admin named Emmie, she makes weighted stuffed animals and knits blankets. I make the rest.
